Elsa Abs

Elsa Abs is a Research Scholar at LSCE with a PhD in Mathematical Ecology and Evolution from ENS Ulm. Their research focuses on understanding how microscale processes, such as microbial evolution, influence global climate. They employ mathematical approaches to study eco-evolutionary dynamics and upscaling, integrate data—particularly metagenomic analyses—to characterize microbial diversity and evolution, and use computational models to quantify the impact of microbial adaptation on global carbon projections. Recently, they were awarded an ERC Starting Grant to integrate soil microbial diversity and evolution into the land surface model ORCHIDEE.
